Bergen is an exploration of something familiair, the Dutch seaside, through fresh eyes. Rendering the photographs into images where texture, colour and composition trump over subject matter, Maan Limburg is searching for the painterly moods of the coastline near this small dutch village. Tracing the winds across the quiet dunes, empty beaches, searching for the traces of time during covid. While civilisation felt delicate and at a standstill, there was a renewed interest and respect for our national nature. There was beauty to be found in the smallest, most mundane things.

Subtle tones of grey, blue, and sand intermingle, with sudden bursts of brightness and reflections of the sun on the water. In these works, the Dutch coast reveals itself as more than a holiday destination. It is a vital threshold between land and water, permanence and change. By slowing down and attending to its subtle atmospheres, Limburg creates a contemplative space that mirrors both the vastness of nature and the intimacy of personal reflection.
